Right now, one of our partners, Richmond Fellowship, is looking for a Peer Support Co-ordinator to support our new Crisis Services in Blackpool, Preston and Blackburn. The new service, launching between November 2017 and March 2018, will provide support and short term interventions for people experiencing a mental health crisis.

Day-to-day, you’ll work with the team leaders, peer support volunteers and the people who use our services to develop an inclusive and effective peer support service, offering individual and group support. That means you will be recruiting and supporting a network of volunteers who have personal experience of using mental health services, to help others on their own recovery journey. You will contribute to the development of organisational policies, procedures, protocols, systems and guidance to underpin the provision of peer support across the organisation. Identifying and implementing training programmes; promoting the service to stakeholders and operating a fully compliant service to agreed budgets – all are part and parcel of this challenging role.

To succeed, you’ll need lived experience of mental ill health and/or a good understanding of a recovery journey and what this means to individuals. Experience of recruiting and/or supervising volunteers would be useful too, although is not essential. You must, however, have a proven ability to consult, liaise and work collaboratively with a team of colleagues and a wide range of external organisations and a flexible approach to working hours.

The successful candidate should be well-organised, an excellent communicator, and able to motivate and guide others, leading by example.

This is a part time post at 30 hours per week.

Subsequent salary progression up to a maximum of £19,190 (pro rata) will apply to this post, subject to the postholder meeting the eligibility and performance criteria.
