Do you have a professional qualification in social care and/or significant recent management /supervisory experience and a background of direct client work gained in an alcohol, drug or mental health setting? Would you like to be part of an organisation that counts on the professionalism, insight, expertise and passion of its staff to inspire individual recovery for the people they work with? Then join us as a Service Manager – Substance Misuse.
Recovery Focus is a new group of expert charities with the shared aim to inspire individual recovery nationwide. Between us we have a track record of more than 200 years of developing and running personalised services that work with people with mental health, substance misuse and other complex needs to achieve their ambitions. Each partner organisation has its own rich history of success, but together we believe we can lead the way in evidence-based recovery pathways, tailored to meet local and individual needs.
Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a Service Manager to join their friendly team. Based in the West Midlands, Aquarius helps people overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling. They work closely with individuals, families and friends to lessen the impact caused by the behaviour of a loved one. But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Join us, and the performance, development and day-to-day management of the service, including the resourcing, retention, training and motivating of staff, will be in your hands. We'll also rely on you to ensure the service reaches performance targets and complies with SLAs. Negotiating contract renewals with commissioners and funders will be important too, as will project managing the implementation of new services, funding and business initiatives. And, when it comes to liaising with commissioners, other key stakeholders and service users to develop local strategies, again, you’ll lead the way. Identifying service gaps or areas of underperformance and remedying them, spotting business development opportunities, carrying out alcohol or drug related assessments and making sure services are promoted effectively – all are aspects of this challenging role. .
As well as a relevant qualification and/or experience in the alcohol, drug or mental health field, we’ll be looking for knowledge of relevant legislation and a proven ability to recruit, supervise, line manage and performance review staff. You’ll also need to be confident managing complex situations and implementing change within a service and have a good understanding of the impact of substance misuse on individuals, families and communities. Highly literate and numerate, you’re an energetic self-starter who’s great at planning and monitoring services and managing a budget. What’s more, you have a positive outlook, a flexible approach and thrive under pressure. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work is also required.
In return, you can expect some great benefits, including 32 days' holiday, contributory pension scheme, employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers, plus exceptional professional development and training opportunities.
So, get inspired and take the first steps towards a more fulfilling career.
