Do you have an understanding of alcohol and health related issues, the Recovery Agenda and experience of working with adults or young people in an addictions or social care setting? Would you like to be part of an organisation that counts on the professionalism, insight, expertise and passion of its staff to inspire individual recovery for the people they work with? Then join us as a practitioner.
Recovery Focus is a new group of expert charities with the shared aim to inspire individual recovery nationwide. Between us we have a track record of more than 200 years of developing and running personalised services that work with people with mental health, substance misuse and other complex needs to achieve their ambitions.
Each partner organisation has its own rich history of success, but together we believe we can lead the way in evidence-based recovery pathways, tailored to meet local and individual needs.
Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a practitioner to join their Wolverhampton service. Based in the West Midlands, Aquarius helps people overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling. They work closely with individuals, families and friends to lessen the impact caused by the behaviour of a loved one. But it’s only possible with the help of people like you.
Your challenge? To provide advice, assessments, brief and structured interventions, group programmes and training courses to individuals, families and couples. You’ll be working not only from Aquarius offices, but in primary care, arrest referral, hospital and youth settings and other outreach locations. Developing care plans, liaising with external agencies, promoting Aquarius to statutory and voluntary organisations and keeping accurate records – you’ll do all of this. And, all the while, we’ll expect you to work in a way that recognises and values diversity and makes the most of your understanding of the functional model of substance misuse, the model of change, CBT and a commitment to Recovery.
An energetic and confident self-starter, you have a qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies). Alternatively, we’ll consider candidates with experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care. As well as good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health related issues, you're used to liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals and comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings. What’s more, you have a flexible approach, a commitment to the principles of confidentiality and excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office.
This post is offered as a fixed term contract ending 10th May 2019.
In return, you can expect some great benefits, including 32 days' holiday, contributory pension scheme, employee assistance programme and childcare vouchers, plus exceptional professional development and training opportunities.
So, get inspired and take the first steps towards a more fulfilling career.
