Recovery Focus is a new group of expert charities with the shared aim to inspire individual recovery nationwide. Between us we have a track record of more than 200 years of developing and running personalised services that work with people with mental health, substance misuse and other complex needs to achieve their ambitions. Each partner organisation has its own rich history of success, but together we believe we can lead the way in evidence-based recovery pathways, tailored to meet local and individual needs.

Right now, one of our partners, Aquarius Action Projects, is looking for a Café Supervisor to join them. Aquarius helps people overcome the harm caused by alcohol, drugs and gambling. They work closely with individuals, families and friends to lessen the impact caused by the behaviour of a loved one. This particular role involves managing and undertaking a variety of duties at their EVOLVE café sites and help create positive opportunities for local young people affected by drugs, alcohol, mental health and/or homelessness issues.

Working in a busy environment, we’ll rely on you to help with the day-to-day management of the cafés and events space at EVOLVE at the Adam and Eve in Digbeth and EVOLVE at Pebble Mill. You’ll also be required to help prepare, cook and serve a variety of food and drink items line with health and safety procedures. Serving customers, dealing with payments, maintaining a high standard of customer service and playing an important part in the development and training of the staff – all are aspects of this challenging role.

To succeed, you’ll need to be polite, professional and presentable, with a passion for working in the hospitality industry. You’re also hard working yet flexible, great at multi-tasking and always happy to learn new things. You’re used to handling cash and have an understanding of costs and trading margins too. What’s more, you have a proven ability to both manage and work as part of a team with lots of enthusiasm and are willing to work some evening and weekends as required.

The standard working hours are 37 hours per week, however the successful candidate will work on average of 40 hours per week.
